Day 37 Roof Frame - Friday 27 August 2010

Just a short update and a couple of pics today.  As you can see from the photos, the guys were busy putting up the roof frame.

Our Site Supervisor left us a message today advising that the plumbers are back on Monday and that our bricks are also being delivered Monday as well with the brickies due on site within a week after that.

There's been a bit of a brickie shortage lately so if we only have to wait a week till ours turn up on site the I'm fine with that!

Day 34 First Floor Frame - Tuesday 24 August 2010

The first floor frame started going up today and most of the downstairs windows have also gone in.  So far I'm really happy with the progress.  Touch wood the rest of the build goes smoothly too!

We also went back to Di Lorenzo's today to make our third changes (yes, third) to our tile selections!  I wish we didn't have to go through them for the tiling of the wet areas as they are the biggest rip off. For the downstairs tiling (although we are going to be purchasing the tiles from Di Lorenzo as they have the only tile we like so far) we are going to get someone else to tile after handover as we have worked out (if our calculations are right) we will be saving approximately $3000-$4000.

Day 16 - The Slab! - Friday 6 August 2010

We finally have our slab but not without a bit of drama though.  Apparently the drop edge beam on the bottom corner gave way and totally collapsed.  Too bad I wasn't there when that happened, I would have had some real "interesting" shots for the blog.

The guys hard at work!
Oops!  Just a tiny bit left to do and there is no concrete left!

The finished product!

We also met our Site Supervisor on site as well.  He advised that the plumber is booked in for next week to do the drainage etc.   He also said that our frames are due to be delivered next Friday with work due to start on the Monday.

Day 15 - Down go the waffles! - Thursday August, 2010

The plumber was on site yesterday and today the concrete guys were back laying the waffles and steel.  They'll be back tomorrow morning at 7 to pour the slab!  Hopefully it won't be raining tomorrow.

More to come tomorrow!

Day 12 - Piers & Formwork - Monday 2 August 2010

We had a call from our Site Supervisor this morning letting us know that the concretors started over the weekend and were on site today.  I had been by the property on Saturday and saw nothing different so they must have been on site on Sunday!

I dropped by a little while later while they were still drilling the holes and putting up the framework (pics below!) and was told that, depending on the weather, the slab may be poured on Thursday or Friday.  It's raining again at the moment but I'm hoping the next few days will be free of rain.
