FINALLY, WE ARE IN!!

Well, 7 months (and 5 days!) since our slab was poured we are finally in!

We picked up the keys last Thursday and officially moved in on Friday 11 March so we have been here for a week now.

There is still a lot of unpacking and organising to do (mostly upstairs) but I'm just going to take my time and not stress over it. We are still sleeping on mattresses on the floor and living out of suitcases, boxes, and anywhere else where we can find our clothes (I don't really care, I'm just happy that we are finally in!) but we hope to have our room and our son's room set up by Sunday.

I've only got a couple of photos to post and when I find my camera I'll post more.

No long to go now!

Wow, it's been almost 3 months since my last post.

Although we are probably only a short few weeks away before completion, I have to say the last couple of months have just dragged by with not much in the way of progress.   Obviously there was no work done over Christmas for 3 weeks and then we had a tile delay (had to change our original glass feature tiles we chose for the bathrooms as the tiler couldn't cut them without them chipping or breaking, something he said Di Lorenzo should have known at the time we picked them).

Anyway, had to go back to Di Lorenzo (another 2 week delay as they were closed for the holidays), chose our new tiles which they said would arrive on 20 January.  They didn't arrive till nearly three weeks later, so another delay there.

But, it's all done now, and the feature tiling looks great and we are just waiting for the shower screens.

Our tiles for downstairs were delivered this morning and the tiling is due to start tomorrow.  We chose to organise the tiling ourselves and not through the builder, as it worked out cheaper, but as we are using the builders tilers, to do the work they have allowed them to do the work before handover which is great and will save some time as well.

The cleaners are in today cleaning the house and they'll be back just before handover for one final clean.

The concretors were in yesterday starting to do the formwork for the driveway.   But as it's raining today and I think on and off the rest of the week, it might be a few days before they are back on site.

Anyway, lots of new pictures below.  The next lot of photos will be the finished product!!

The tiler took 4 days just to complete this column.  These tiles, although they came on a sheet, are all individual tiles and she spent a lot of time putting a large number of them on, one at a time!

Day 123 Update - We have a kitchen!

Since my last update a fair bit has been done.  To our surprise all the kitchen, laundry and bathroom cabinetry was delivered on Monday and we were further surprised to turn up on site on Tuesday to see them being installed by a lovely fellow from Timpelle Kitchens with the help of his dad!

We are getting Ceasarstone countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms.  Not sure when they are coming in though.

The "cornice" guys were also in this week and they have now finished putting up all cornices both up and downstairs.

All the wet areas waterproofing has been done and the tiling was supposed to have started this week too but nothing yet.  Maybe tomorrow.

The safety platform in the void area at the top of the stairs has now been removed ready for the plasterers to come back in and fill in the gaps.

The carpenter has also been in and out the last week hanging doors etc and has now locked us out!  I guess we are officially at lock up stage now as we (and by we I mean my husband) has been climbing in through a broken window to gain access.  Unfortunately - or fortunately - depends which way you see it, the window has now been fixed so we have to find another way in!

Finally today, our front render feature was also painted and I absolutely love the colours!! (Thanks to Anita at Wisdom!).

Till next time..

Day 114 - We have walls & ceilings & a staircase!!

Our house is finally starting to look like a house now the walls and ceilings have gone in.

We did a quick drive by this afternoon to find the staircase had also been installed, which was a surprise as we weren't expecting it.

Day 82 - Nice Clean Bricks!- Friday 8 October 2010

There has been a little bit of a delay due to the rain but nothing major.  The bricking is finished and today they were cleaned.   According to our SS the eaves are being put up tomorrow, and next week will see them painted, the downpipes installed and also hopefully the rendering at the front done.

Satellite Images over the last year

Here are some satellite images taken from www.nearmap.com of our block and surrounds over the last year.  The first photo below is actually from google maps.  They are a few years behind nearmap.com who seem to update their images a few times a year.  I'm not sure when the one below was taken but I can see a faint 2008 on the image so I'm guessing it's from then.  The arrow is where I have "estimated" our block to be!

It's interesting seeing the changes over time.
