Day 123 Update - We have a kitchen!

Since my last update a fair bit has been done.  To our surprise all the kitchen, laundry and bathroom cabinetry was delivered on Monday and we were further surprised to turn up on site on Tuesday to see them being installed by a lovely fellow from Timpelle Kitchens with the help of his dad!

We are getting Ceasarstone countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms.  Not sure when they are coming in though.

The "cornice" guys were also in this week and they have now finished putting up all cornices both up and downstairs.

All the wet areas waterproofing has been done and the tiling was supposed to have started this week too but nothing yet.  Maybe tomorrow.

The safety platform in the void area at the top of the stairs has now been removed ready for the plasterers to come back in and fill in the gaps.

The carpenter has also been in and out the last week hanging doors etc and has now locked us out!  I guess we are officially at lock up stage now as we (and by we I mean my husband) has been climbing in through a broken window to gain access.  Unfortunately - or fortunately - depends which way you see it, the window has now been fixed so we have to find another way in!

Finally today, our front render feature was also painted and I absolutely love the colours!! (Thanks to Anita at Wisdom!).

Till next time..

Day 114 - We have walls & ceilings & a staircase!!

Our house is finally starting to look like a house now the walls and ceilings have gone in.

We did a quick drive by this afternoon to find the staircase had also been installed, which was a surprise as we weren't expecting it.

Day 82 - Nice Clean Bricks!- Friday 8 October 2010

There has been a little bit of a delay due to the rain but nothing major.  The bricking is finished and today they were cleaned.   According to our SS the eaves are being put up tomorrow, and next week will see them painted, the downpipes installed and also hopefully the rendering at the front done.

Satellite Images over the last year

Here are some satellite images taken from www.nearmap.com of our block and surrounds over the last year.  The first photo below is actually from google maps.  They are a few years behind nearmap.com who seem to update their images a few times a year.  I'm not sure when the one below was taken but I can see a faint 2008 on the image so I'm guessing it's from then.  The arrow is where I have "estimated" our block to be!

It's interesting seeing the changes over time.

Day 68 - Update - Friday 24 September

Since my last post the gutters and roof tiles were delivered and installed.  We have been really happy with the progress so far and if all goes well and we have good weather, our SS says we are in with a chance to be in by the end of the year!

Tomorrow, the top level of scaffolding is coming down and the brickies are due back on site on Monday.

Day 58 - Scaffolding Goes Up....Rain comes down - Tuesday 14 September 2010

Went by this afternoon to see the scaffolding had gone up (well half of it anyway). Hopefully the guys will be back tomorrow to finish the bottom floor bricks and scaffolding.  I'm crossing my fingers for no rain.

Day 53 - Bricking Started - Thursday 9 September

The brick layers started on Thursday and continued on Friday, all 8 of them (if I counted correctly).  They told me they should have the bottom level all done by Wednesday.  Then the scaffolding should go up followed by the guttering and roof tiles before they come back and finish bricking the top level.  So far we are really happy with their work.

Day 50 Update - Monday 6 September 2010

We went by the house yesterday and found the temporary ladder up to the first floor had been put up.  We didn't even think twice about climbing up as we have all been hanging to get up there (well, I have anyway!).

The sand and cement was delivered today ready for the bricklayers to get started tomorrow.

This is the room at the front of the house our son has chosen.  Personally I would have chosen the other bedroom at the back with the mountain views.
More distant mountain views, this time from the upstairs lounge

Day 47 - Weekly Update from Site Supervisor.

Received our weekly update from our SS today.  He advised that the sand and all other stuff needed for the brick laying is being delivered on Monday and that the brickies are due to start on Tuesday!

Once the bottom level has been bricked the scaffolding will be put up, then the roof tiles and the top floor bricks get done.

Next week we'll also have access "upstairs" finally so I'll have lots of new photos in the next update!

Day 43 Update

As promised our bricks were delivered on Monday, all 8000 of them, and we just happened to be on site when they were delivered.  The frame is pretty much all done, all windows are now in and the plumbers were in yesterday doing their thing.

Our "grand" entrance!

As you can see in the photo above there's a slight issue with the back stacker door not lining up as the concreting was just a bit out, but our site supervisor is aware of it and advised that it will be rectified.
