DAY 1 - Site Scrape - Thursday 22 July 2010

We have now officially started with the excavation of the site yesterday.  Now the fun and excitement begins!

I hope this portaloo doesn't decide to topple over one day!

Site fence put up!

Went by again this morning and the fence was being put up!

Site fence delivered

Went by the block today and found they have delivered the gravel, (which I'm pretty sure is for the driveway), and the site fence, so hopefully we are looking at a site start very soon!

Isn't it sad when you get all excited over a portaloo.

Latest Update

Since my last update, we have completed our electrical plan, signed off on the kitchen, laundry and bathroom plans and also added and finalised a bunch of "extras" we originally decided against during the tender stage. :-) 

We also discovered that we actually have a window in our kitchen behind the stove.  This was pointed out to us by the kitchen people when I questioned why the glass splashback didn't go across the whole wall - duh! This was a Basix/Council requirement so we didn't really have a choice in the matter anyway).  It's right there in the plans but we never noticed it!

The Construction Certificate was also issued a few days ago so we are almost ready to start!

On a sour note, as we are one the last to build in our estate, our block of land has become somewhat of a storage facility and rubbish tip for all the other builders around.  We even have a nice set of tyre tracks from a cement truck which went up the curb a few days ago and then dump its leftover concrete on our land.

We have Council approval!

Wahoo!  We have council approval! (and it only took 21 days from date of lodgement)

We also have Water Board approval already so things should start moving along very quickly now.

The Waiting Game...

Council received the plans on 17 May 2010 so now we play the waiting game.  Wisdom called a couple of days ago with their weekly update and advised that we have now been assigned an assessor and that once the neighbour notification expires on 3 June 2010 the plans should pretty much be approved strait away as they don't forsee any problems with Council.  Sounds good but we'll just have to wait and see if that is the case.
